On October 10, Carlota Zabaco, executive coordinator of the Barcelona Aging and Longevity Lab (BALL), participated in the BNEW debate ‘Keys to Healthy Aging through Medicine, Research, Good Habits and Technological Innovation’ .
A healthy lifestyle provides less risk of suffering from cardiovascular diseases, the leading cause of mortality in the world, in addition to other pathologies such as cancer. In this sense, it was discussed how research is key to understanding the mechanisms of aging and finding formulas to reach old age in a healthy way.
Other ideas that were discussed in the roundtable in which we participated were the influence of genes on longevity, how the use of technology can promote the autonomy of older people and strategies to reduce the digital divide.
